Welcome to COAS Senate’s page!

Here you’ll find recent legislation passed, resources, and upcoming events you won’t want to miss. You’ll also meet the 11 Senators committed to representing the College of Arts & Sciences.

Want to author a piece of legislation? This is the perfect place to reach out and ensure your voice is heard.

As Howard’s legislative student body, we are dedicated to advocating for the needs, concerns, and well-being of you, our COAS community. Together, we can drive change forward.

What Senate Does:

  1. Securing operational funding to support student organizations and their initiatives through budget proposals.

  2. Amending the HUSA Constitution every semester to adapt to the needs of students.

  3. Reviewing and passing legislation that directly impacts the student body’s well-being.

The Senate has many responsibilities on and around campus, however, our work centers around 3 main functions:

 📍Senate Student Resources

*All students are eligible to write a piece of legislation as long as they have a Senator sponsor their bill.*

*All items or services listed in an organization’s funding proposal must be on Howard’s approved vendor’s list to be considered.*
